It's a day of beauty and transformation at the Salvation Army in Bell. The non-profit organization, Operation Warm Wishes is providing makeovers, haircuts, breakfast and even a little exercise for homeless people and veterans staying at the Salvation Army campus.
But it's more than just a a makeover. Major Osei Stewart says, "When you look in the mirror, you want to stand out. If you have an opportunity to groom yourself, it does a whole lot for yourself and your self dignity. It encourages you to get out there and do better for yourself."
Alfonso Lowe who struggles with drug and alcohol addictions says, "You gotta look at it that you have a second chance in life. It’s not about giving up, cuz giving up is easy. It’s living that's what's hard. We have to face our demons ourselves and it starts with you and it's going to end with you."
