LOS ANGELES (FOX 11) - Many singles who are sick of online dating face the challenge of finding that special someone, but they may not be looking in the right place.
Kiaundra Jackson is a relationship therapist who shared six opportunities for professional women who want to meet other professional singles.
1. Professionals events, mixers & seminars
Example: Entrepreneur or Real Estate Meetups. Or at personal development events, e.g. Tony Robbins at LA Convention Center, March 14-17.
Professional events are a great way to meet men of your same caliber. If you want someone who has large business goals, who may understand entrepreneurship or who just desires to climb the corporate ladder in their industry -- mixers are a great way to meet new individuals. This already sheds light into the type of man he may be. He already values professional development and investing in himself.
2. Art gallery exhibits / events
Example: The Art Walk in Downtown LA, or “First Friday’s” in Venice (Abbot Kinney), or "First Thursdays" in Laguna Beach.
This is a place where you can meet a man who is professional, but also has a creative side. He may not be the actual artist, but finding a man who can have fun and enjoy an array of experiences shows he is well-rounded. Art exhibits can tell you that he uses the right-side of his brain, which is associated with more creativity, awareness, intuition and insight.
3. Charity events / galas / fundraisers
Example: Find your local charity and attend their higher-end annual event.
Finding a professional man at charity events is a good indicator that he is all about giving back to a good cause and involvement in the local community.
4. Health-oriented grocery stores
Examples: Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Sprouts. The key is to go during busy times, to maximize opportunities. Walk around the store at least twice before leaving.
A health-conscious man is one that will care about multiple aspects of your life. He will invest into you emotionally, but also make sure you are healthy on the inside and outside.
5. Lounges that are inside high-end resorts, during weekends.
Examples: "Pelican Hill" & "Balboa Bay" in Orange County.
Lounges are a great place to engage in meaningful dialogue with professional men with great scenery, good vibes and amazing food. This shows you he is not afraid to spend money, visit different places and meet new people.
6. Theater or orchestra performances.
Example: Brentwood/Westwood Symphony Orchestra
Only a more refined person will appreciate the sound of an orchestra. An average person may consider it to be boring. The different instruments and his value in a variety of music shows you that he has a different level of understanding. His ear is in tune, which we can also infer that he may be a good listener in a relationship.
Bonus #7 for single moms: At nicer events, appropriate for their kids
A lot of single women don’t know when/how to involve their kid. Try meeting men at events appropriate for their children. If you can’t take your kid there, it’s probably not the best place to meet men, either.
Overall, all of these ideas can attract more successful, more refined people, create more meaningful connections, and do not evolve around alcohol as the common interest.
