Olympic Gold winner Allyson Felix inspires students for college

- Olympic Gold Medal winner Allyson Felix will join former All-Pro NFL defensive back Nnamdi Asomugha this weekend to co-host the 2nd annual ACTS College Summit.

This is a free event for local high school juniors and seniors to inspire them to pursue higher education and to show them just how to do that.

This is the 2nd annual ACTS College Fair.  Last year’s ACTS Summit was a huge success, welcoming over 300 students throughout LA.

The ACTS College summit is a free event for local high school juniors and seniors to learn more about the college admissions process, and to inspire them to pursue higher education, while also giving them the necessary tools to do so.

The Summit will feature breakout sessions on topics like “Making your college applications & essays stand out from the rest,” “Everything you need to know about financial aid,”  and “Navigating the world of scholarships,” to name a few.

Students will also be invited to browse a College Fair featuring colleges and universities from around the country, as well as local community colleges. Schools include Princeton, Penn State, USC and Howard University, to name a few.

Allyson recently stopped by a few local high schools to encourage students to register for the ACTS Summit.

The 2nd annual ACTS College Summit begins at 11 a.m. Oct. 10 at the Asomugha Foundation Center on Western Avenue.
