Dating now is a lot different than it was even a few years ago...and those waters can be difficult to maneuver.
Arianna Thomopoulos came up with ‘The Modern Day Girlfriend’ - a website designed to help women keep "living & loving in the digital age one swipe at a time".
She's here with some tips for the single ladies...
"I created 'The Modern Day Girlfriend' after countless conversations & sleepless nights with my girlfriends about living, loving and especially dating in the digital age, rules have changed!"
"Everyone connects through social media. Gone are the days when a guy would call a girl on the phone to ask her out. Now you can “Instagram” “Facebook” “Bumble”, “Twitter,” “Tinder,” “Reya” “OK Cupid” “E-Harmony” and use many more apps to find your way into someone’s heart. You have to learn a new way of communicating including breaking down Emoji’s to express what you’re feelings."
"There is a new language that you must learn to speak in order to express yourself without scaring away a potential date. New words with new definitions are popping up everywhere and finding their way into Webster’s Dictionary."
- “Selfie” To take a picture of ones self.
- “Catfish” a person who pretends to be some one their not.
- “Textplain”, to explain something.
- “Imaginate, to imagine” (Really?)
- “Sexting” sending sexual texts, pictures or comments.
- “Guybernation”, (my personal favorite) a temporary break from a romantic relationship from men.
"News words are being created everyday. I need to keep up so I don’t say the wrong thing and potentially get swiped to the left."
