Hector Tobar pens book on Chilean miners, now a movie

In the summer of 2010, the world watched and waited to see what would happen to 33 miners trapped in that mine in Chile that collapsed.

The men survived for 69 days before being safely rescued one at a time, as millions of people watched on live TV. afterwards, all 33 miners agreed to sell the rights to their story...together.

Hector Tobar got to know all of them and wrote "Deep Down Dark: The Untold Stories Of 33 Men, Buried In A Chilean Mine, And The Miracle That Set Them Free."

Hector will be moderating a conversation with Salman Rushdie as part of the LA public library's ‘Aloud’ program Thursday night, September 10th...Saturday, September 19th he will be at The Last Bookstore - that starts at 7:30pm.

And the book, ‘Deep Down Dark…’ is out now.

‘The 33’ hits theaters in November.
