Edible flowers & also east little tarts
For this segment, Valerie is focusing on edible flowers in desserts, whether it’s for Mother’s Day or spring in general.
In addition to the Floral Sugar Cookies with white chocolate and dried lavender, roses, and hibiscus, we’ll also make little tarts.
To make it easy for an at-home cook, she can demo a version that uses little store-bought tart shells and then show how to make different fillings like lemon curd, flavored creams, and chocolates, and then garnish it with fresh and dried geraniums and pansies. They can look really beautiful on a plate for Mother’s Day brunch, or to put in a gift box to give to one’s mom.
Valerie is also known for her jams, cookies, and spring-leaning chocolates and toffees that can be gifted to mom.
She just unveiled her latest creative collaboration with a local artisan—a beautiful chocolate bar with rose petals and fleur del sel that was created in tandem with Lauri Kranz of Edible Gardens LA, and inspired by her organization that designs and plants edible garden landscapes for the community. It’s a great option for any last-minute Mother’s Day gift guides, and we’d of course love for you to keep in mind for any year-round gift guides and sweets roundups.
