Tyrese and Rev Run wants you to know ‘It's Not You, It's Men'

Tyrese and Rev Run are with us. They have a new talk show on Oprah's network called ‘It's Not You, It's Men.’

“It’s Not You, It’s Men” is a primetime talk show featuring ordained minister, author and hip hop icon Rev Run (aka Joseph Ward Simmons) a 51-year-old married man, father of six and grandfather of one, and Tyrese Gibson, a 36-year-old single father, author, international film star and platinum recording artist.

Often at odds with each other, these two unorthodox “love and relationship experts” will be joined by a primetime studio audience and celebrity guests in a no-holds-barred relationship throw down.

Tyrese Gibson was born and raised in Watts California, where at an early age found a deep passion for music and acting. Having appeared in numerous commercials and modeling campaigns, Gibson made his motion-picture debut as the star of John Singleton’s Baby Boy and was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture for his role as Joseph Summers. He again worked with director Singleton on 2 Fast 2 Furious. Gibson has appeared in some of the industry’s top franchises including the first three installments of the highly successful Transformers films. Gibson recently reprised his role of Roman Pearce in Universal’s first billion dollar worldwide film, Furious 7. To date Furious 7 has grossed over 1.5 billion globally. On the heels of the film’s success, the studio has already announced a release date of April 14, 2017, for the release of the eighth installment in the franchise. Gibson’s upcoming movie credits include costarring with Kevin Hart and Ice Cube in Ride Along 2, and also recently announced his new primetime show, in collaboration with Rev Run, produced by CBS TV for Oprah Winfrey’s network OWN slated to air in 2016. In addition, Universal Pictures optioned Desert Eagle, an action spec scripted by Gibson and Mike Le in which a pair of border patrol agents investigate a drug cartel being operated out of a Native American reservation casino.

His others credits include Fast Five, Furious Six, Michael Bay’s blockbuster Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen; Paul W.S. Anderson’s sci-fi thriller Death Race, with Jason Statham, Joan Allen and Ian McShane; the horror-action film Legion, alongside Dennis Quaid and Paul Bettany; Brad Furman’s crime drama The Take, opposite John Leguizamo and Rosie Perez; Flight of the Phoenix; Singleton’s Four Brothers, which co-starred Mark Wahlberg and André Benjamin; Annapolis, directed by Justin Lin; and Vondie Curtis-Hall’s Waist Deep.

On top of Gibson’s staggering film resume and nearly 20 years after he made his Billboard chart debut, the singer/actor achieved his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with the arrival of Black Rose, which will be his final solo album. The album features the #1 hit single, Shame; the inspiration for the short film by the same title, starring Gibson & Jennifer Hudson directed by Paul Hunter, and produced by Denzel Washington. The album has already garnered 2 Grammy nominations and 2 NAACP Award nominations.

His motivational book, “How to Get Out of Your Own Way,” published by Grand Central Publishing, was released on April 7, 2011. In 2013, he released “Manology: Secrets of Your Man’s Mind Revealed,” which he co-wrote with Run-D.M.C.’s DJ Joseph “Rev Run” Simmons.

Rev Run (a.k.a. Joseph Simmons) is the front man of seminal hip-hop group Run-D.M.C., Rev Run is widely credited for ushering rap music into mainstream culture.  An inductee of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Run-D.M.C. was named the greatest hip-hop artist of all-time by both MTV and VH1.  The Recording Academy will honor Rev Run and Run DMC with a Lifetime Achievement Award, the first rappers to receive the honor. Rev Run remains a dynamic figure in entertainment today with his hit TV shows “Run’s House,” “Rev Run’s Sunday Suppers,” and “Rev Run’s Renovation,” and “Rev Runs Around the World” and a new talk show with  Grammy-nominated artist Tyrese Gibson, “It's Not You,  It’s Men.”

He is also a spokesperson for Ask Screen Know and AT&T.

‘It's Not You It's Men’ airs Saturday nights at 9:00pm on OWN.
