LOS ANGELES (FOX 11) - Lisa Joyner is the co-host of TLC's new series "Long Lost Family," which features family members trying to reunite with birth parents, biological families or children placed for adoption.
Each episode features the stories of two people or families hoping to find what they are looking for.
As an adoptee herself, Joyner searched for her own biological family through a mediator and calls the experience a "negotiation."
On the show Thursday, she also stressed the importance of being prepared.
"I don’t care how you feel… it’s still life changing. When you decide to go on that search, that journey, and you find out who these people are, it will change your life," she said. "There will always be a before and an after."
"Long Lost Family" premieres March 6 at 10 p.m.
