Jazmyn Simon co-stars on the HBO series ‘Ballers’ as Julie, the wife of a former pro football linebacker.
Her character, Julie Green opposite Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Omar Benson Miller and John David Washington, is written as the shows only female lead. The highly awaited collaboration by producers Mark Wahlberg and Steve Levinson will air this summer on June 21st.
Originally raised in northern California, Simon developed a rapport with the art of acting while pursuing her college education in Las Vegas. While Simon was certain she found her walk of life in acting, she left school before completion to venture to Chicago in the pursuit of a new goal. While based in Chicago Simon booked two commercials for Apple in conjunction with the release of the iPad before accepting a job with Merck Pharmaceuticals. Despite a successful career in pharmaceutical sales- “dick medicine” she jokes, Simon found herself unsatisfied with her life’s direction.
With the knowledge from only a few college-level theatrical courses and professional determination, she looked to renowned acting teacher Howard Fine to help master her craft. With a new found focus and confidence, Simon was cast as a guest in hit series including: Parks and Recreation, Welcome to the family, Hello Ladies and Sister Dirty.
In 2013, she hit the big screen for the first time in David E. Talbert’s comedy Baggage Claim starring Paula Patton and Taye Diggs.
'Ballers' airs Sunday nights on HBO.
