Rodrigo Santoro stars in Chilean miner movie 'The 33'

Rodrigo Santoro co-stars in the new movie ‘The 33’ as the Chilean government official who orchestrated the rescue of 33 men trapped nearly a half-mile underground after a disastrous mine cave-in five years ago.

Rodrigo plays Laurence Goldborne, who was Chile’s Minister of Mining and new on the job when the collapse happened.

The film is based on the true story of the 2010 Chilean mine collapse, the film reveals the never-before-seen actual events that unfolded during the 69 days the 33 miners were trapped.

'The 33' also stars Antonio Banderas, Rodrigo Santoro, Juliette Binoche, James Brolin, and Lou Diamond Phillips and opens on November 13.
