We planned on having Nitro Circus’ Travis Pastrana join Good Day LA to have a fun and exciting morning show bike routine outside on our parking lot, but because of the tragic news around the passing of MTV star Erik Roner – a close friend to Travis – we decided to focus our interview on remembering Erik.
Roner, 39, died on Monday after a skydiving accident for the opening ceremony of a golf event in Squaw Valley up in northern California. A bunch of Nitro Circus athletes parachuted down, but Roner hit a tree while attempting to land, and was pronounced dead at the scene. “It was just a regular skydive. Not a base jump. Nothing fancy. It would have been like any of us driving to work. It should have been a piece of cake, and it shows you how fragile life can be.”
Pastrana heard the tragic news a few minutes after it happened. The shows will continue once the team has time with family and friends. “Erik was the most happy and charismatic guy you’d ever meet, and he’d be the first guy to say to get back out there.”
Nitro Circus will be performing at Staples Center on November 6 and at the Honda Center in Anaheim on November 7. For tickets and more information, visit the Nitro Circus website.
