Actress Torrey DeVitto from NBC's 'Chicago Med' & philosophy's Hope & Grace Initiative

May is National Mental Health awareness month. Recently many celebs have come forth about Mental Health betterment. On May 19th, Torrey will be working with NAMI- The National Alliance of Mental Illness. She will be hosting their annual luncheon. Torrey battles Anxiety disorder, and is sharing this news and battle with many.

Torrey DeVitto stars as Dr. Natalie Manning — an emergency pediatric medicine specialist — in the NBC drama “Chicago Med.”

Despite being in her third trimester of pregnancy, she’s still entirely focused on her patients, working sometimes to the point of exhaustion. Fortunately, Natalie has her hospital “family” to look after her.

On the film front, DeVitto was recently cast in “Amy Makes Three” as Carla Forrest, a happily married wife who loses her child after giving birth prematurely. The film takes a twisted turn after Carla and her husband, played by Mike Doyle, discover the ghost of their former child. 

DeVitto was born and raised in Huntington, N.Y., to Mary and Liberty DeVitto, the long-time drummer for Billy Joel. She spent most of her early years traveling on the road with her parents and by the time she could walk, DeVitto fell in love with music and acting.
 
With music in her genes, DeVitto began playing violin at 6 years old. Soon, she began to study acting and dance and by the time she was 15 started working in commercials and was professionally modeling. Her first break in acting came in 1999 when she participated in the Aaron Spelling production “Safe Harbor.” One year later, she booked the Nickelodeon pilot “Noah Knows Best.”
 
After graduating high school, she moved to Los Angeles, where her career began to take off. She landed roles in the CW series “The Vampire Diaries” as Meredith Fell, as well as Melissa on ABC Family’s hit show “Pretty Little Liars.” However, she is most notable for her performance as Carrie on the CW drama series “One Tree Hill.”
 
DeVitto’s additional television credits include guest roles on “Scrubs,” “Dawson’s Creek,” “The King of Queens,” “Drake & Josh,”  “CSI: Miami” and “Castle.”  
 
DeVitto is very active with a number of philanthropic organizations and is also Hospice Ambassador. She strongly supports PETA and the Humane Society of the United States.
 
DeVitto also makes time to dote on her dogs, Beau and Homie, which were adopted at Much Love, a pet adoption agency in Los Angeles.
