Prince Royce readies new album, live performance in 'The Passion'

Prince Royce is going to play 'Peter' in a live musical version of ‘The Passion’ which will air live on FOX this weekend.

‘The Passion’ is a two-hour musical event and airs live from New Orleans on Palm Sunday, and tells the 2000-year-old story of the last hours of Jesus Christ’s life on earth. Hosted and narrated by actor, writer, producer, director and New Orleans native Tyler Perry (“The Haves and The Have Nots,” “Gone Girl”), the special will feature a cast of today’s biggest stars performing a variety of popular music, arranged by executive producer and hit music producer Adam Anders (“Glee,” “Rock of Ages”).

‘The Passion’ is set in modern day, and will follow the dramatic and inspirational story of Jesus of Nazareth, as he presides over the Last Supper, and then is betrayed by Judas, put on trial by Pontius Pilate, convicted, crucified and resurrected. The story will unfold live at some of New Orleans’ most iconic locations, while featuring a procession of hundreds of people carrying a 20-foot, illuminated cross from outside the Superdome to the live stage at Woldenberg Park on the banks of the Mississippi River.

Bronx, NY-born and raised Latin superstar and award-winning artist Prince Royce also announced that his first ever English language album is entitled 'Double Vision' and will be released July 24th on RCA Records.
Prince Royce and the single "Back It Up" from his forthcoming 'Double Vision' album will also be featured in a new Honda commercial that begins airing on Monday, June 15th.

Prince Royce performed “Back it Up” with Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull on the American Idol finale last month. The single topped the iTunes Latino chart, and is currently climbing the pop charts.

“Back It Up” follows Royce's debut mainstream hit single "Stuck On A Feeling" featuring Snoop Dogg which peaked Top 15 on the pop charts.
