Music journalists really are "with the band"

If you're a fan of the band "Set It Off" wouldn't you love to be Priscilla Gomez. The 15-year-old got an interview with the rock band. Even better, she was media on the 2015 Warped Tour.

Gomez is well on her way to being a music journalist. She founded her own company two years ago, Full Broadcast Entertainment. She bought a camera and her dad loans out a microphone. Her father is in the entertainment event business. A fan of the underground alternative music scene, she started contacting bands through social media for interviews.

Gomez may still be in high school, but she has her sights on a higher calling.

Lyndsey Parker knows that passion. In high school, she too wanted to be a music journalist. She dreamed of being the music editor for Rolling Stone Magazine. That didn't happen, but she did get the job at Yahoo Music.

Parker has interviewed everyone from Rupaul to Gwen Stefani, to her all-time favorite band, The Cure.

She started writing fanzines and notes how the business has changed. Fast paced deadlines keep her on the grind. Gone are the days of going to Coachella and enjoying the weekend. She's working and writing that very day with deadlines to meet and competition to beat.

She goes to concerts two to three nights a week and says there are a lot of late nights. It may seem like a dream job, and Parker says for the most part, it is!
