LOS ANGELES, CA (FOX 11) - Performing on the Mercury Insurance Concert Series is Lizzy and the Triggermen -- an all-star prohibition jazz band. This was the debut of their original song, "Outta Your League."
They've built a following doing everything "the wrong way." They played in a secret club for 2 years (which didn't allow video). They haven't released any music. They aren't doing music that's trendy. They're a huge band in an industry that is always encouraging downsizing.
Lizzy tells FOX 11's Elex Michaelson, “We’re a 10-piece band in 2018, which is hard enough to make it as a singer-songwriter in the music industry today. People warned me – including my band leader – to not do a 10-piece band, but it sounds so good!”
The band has been together for three years. They haven’t put out any music yet, and their growth is all from word of mouth.
This Sunday, August 19th, they’ll be performing at The Wiltern. Doors open at 6:30pm with swing lessons before their show. Even if you’re a beginner, it’s a great place to learn the basics.
They’ve been writing some original music, and they’re hoping to have an album out soon.
While their sound is rooted in the swing music of the 1920s, they do a mixture of old songs as well as originals. Time-travel back with one of LA’s hottest swing bands!
