(FOX 11) Sunday's program focuses on the Mt. Wilson Observatory.
It is not as well known as the Griffith Observatory atop Griffith Park, but since it opened in 1908, the Mt. Wilson Observatory has been one of the world's most powerful and most significant observatories.
Its vantage point, almost a mile above downtown Los Angeles, has provided unparalleled views of the universe. Although its technology has been surprassed by other observatories, research continues at Mt. Wilson and the public has one-of-a-kind opportunities to do star-gazing through the observatory's 60 inch and 100 inch telescopes.
