Anheuser-Busch welcomes baby Budweiser Clydesdale to the ranks

- If you'll allow us to paraphrase the theme song from "Mr. Ed," a horse is a horse, of course, of course … unless that horse is a famous Budweiser Clydesdale.

Late last month on January 26, the folks at Anheuser-Busch welcomed a brand-new addition to the iconic ranks of the Budweiser mascots: a newborn foal named Mac.

According to the folks at Anheuser-Busch, Mac's name itself is a tribute to the legacy of the Clydesdales, which they describe as "the most macro of all icons." Mac is also expected to grow into a fine Budweiser spokesperson (or spokeshorse) thanks to his beautiful-colored coat and mane — but that doesn't mean we'll be seeing him in the company's Super Bowl spots anytime soon.

"There isn't any reason in the world that Mac shouldn't make our Clydesdale hitches in another four years," remarks Budweiser's Clydesdale caretaker John Soto.
