Katy Perry cements herself into Hollywood History

- Singer Katy Perry and Jeremy Scott put their hand prints in cement in the forecourt of the TCL Chinese Theatre IMAX tonight just before the premiere of a documentary on the American fashion designer.

The ceremony was the first in a series in the forecourt "paying homage to not only filmmakers, but to those whose contributions to all forms of pop culture make their achievements worth noting," according to a theatre
official.

"Jeremy Scott: The People's Designer" follows the ascent of Scott from a small town in Missouri to becoming creative director of the Italian fashion house Moschino.

Perry is among the celebrities interviewed for the documentary, along with Miley Cyrus and Paris Hilton. It will be released Sept. 18.

From Zohreen Adamjee:

Katy Perry cemented herself into Hollywood history Monday. Dozens of fans came to see her.  But Katy made sure the focus was on her best friend. All she said on stage was this: "Make some noise if you love Jeremy Scott. Isn't he a breath of fresh air?"

Designer Jeremy Scott joined Perry in the cement ceremony.  Scott said, "I'm so honored to be the first fashion designer to ever do this. I'm going to cry."

Scott is the star of the documentary "Jeremy Scott: The People's Designer" premiering at the Chinese Theater.

"Jeremy Scott is the most exciting and visionary designer in my opinion. And no one can match his level of being unpredictable. And that intrigued me a lot," said the documentary's director Vlad Yudin.

An unpredictable designer for an unpredictable artist. Scott designed the costumes Perry wore at the Superbowl.

He says Perry's been a big part of his success and helping him reach his "teenage dream."

"It's a dream come true for any little boy who grew up on a farm and dreamt of  Hollywood and all the stars to be able to dress them and now to be immortalized with them...I'm beside myself," said Scott.
