Zachary Knighton and Becki Newton Dish On Playing 'Weird Loners'

Zachary Knighton and Becki Newton star in the new comedy ‘Weird Loners', which premieres on FOX Tuesday night, March 31st. 

'Weird Loners' is a new comedy about what happens when a high-strung romantic, a serial womanizer, a free-spirited heartbreaker and a sheltered man-child are unexpectedly – and hilariously – thrust into a Queens, NY townhouse in the series premiere "Weird Pilot" episode

Becki Newton starred in the FOX comedy series "The Goodwin Games," and was seen in a recurring role as "Barney's" (Neil Patrick Harris) love interest, "Quinn," on the comedy series "How I Met Your Mother."

Newton is best known for her role as "Amanda Tanen" on the award-winning comedy "Ugly Betty." She also starred in the anthology series "Love Bites" and was seen on the big screen in "August Rush."

She started her acting career as a child in Guilford, CT, participating in local theater and musical productions. She graduated from University of Pennsylvania with a degree in European history, and is fluent in Spanish and proficient in German, Greek and Danish. She also is an award-winning violinist and singer.

Newton currently resides in Los Angeles.

Zachary Knighton starred in the critically acclaimed comedy "Happy Endings," alongside Elisha Cuthbert, Adam Pally, Damon Wayans, Jr., Casey Wilson and Eliza Coupe.

He most recently starred in the independent film "Believe Me," and has wrapped production on several other independent films, including "The Big Spoon," which was shot in Austin, TX; "Ashby," playing opposite Mickey Rourke; and "Hot," directed by Victor Warren. He also was seen in "The Big Ask," directed by Thomas Beatty and Rebecca Fishman; "Tug," opposite Yeardley Smith (THE SIMPSONS); "Surfer, Dude," alongside Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson; and "The Hitcher," opposite Sophia Bush. Other credits include the 2004 romantic comedy "The Prince and Me," opposite Julia Stiles and Miranda Richardson; the drama "The Mudge Boy," opposite Emile Hirsch; and "Cherry Falls," alongside Brittany Murphy.

In television, Knighton previously starred as "Dr. Bryce Varley" in the sci-fi thriller "FlashForward," as well as in FOX's comedy series "Life on a Stick." He has been a guest star on "Parenthood," "Wilfred" and "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," as well as having made appearances on "House, MD," "Law & Order," "Ed" and "Related." In addition to his series credits, he appeared in the cable film "Sally Hemmings: An American Scandal."

He also has expanded his body of work with several theatrical productions. Some of his stage credits include "The Pumpkin Pie Show," the off-Broadway play "Birdy, Madame Melville" and "Endgame." For his standout performance in "Equus," Knighton was nominated for the Irene Ryan Award.

Knighton received his B.F.A. in theater from Virginia Commonwealth University and studied abroad at Oxford University, where he further honed his craft. Currently, Knighton resides in Los Angeles, where he enjoys surfing and sailing.

‘Weird Loners' premieres Tuesday, March 31st at 9:30 right here on FOX 11.
