The 50 by 50 Wine from Devo's Gerald Casale

Remember the '80s band Devo and their monster hit, Whip It? From new wave to new wine, Devo co-founder Gerald Casale has created his own brand of wine called The 50 by 50.

You can watch Gerald's interview on Studio 11 on our YouTube channel here.

"A lot of people don't see the connection, but there really is one," Casale says, "I would have never discovered good wine and food if it hadn't been for Devo." During the new California food revolution in the '70s, he met restaurateurs Wolfgang Puck, Michael McCarty and Bruce Marder when they were young and new starting out--even calling them "new wave chefs". He became a disciple of the new California cuisine and the wines with which it was often paired. They all turned him on to food and wine.

The 50 by 50 comes from Casale's 23-acre winery ocated in Napa Valley.

There is a wine tasting party Saturday, May 16th at Wally's in Beverly Hills from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
