John McEwen: 'Will The Circle Be Unbroken'

John McEwen is one of the founding members of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. When the band began, they were considered to be a bunch of 1960's west coast hippies trying to make it big. But then in 1971, McEwen initiated what would end up being a landmark album. That album, "Will The Circle Be Unbroken", brought together these so called "hippies" with well-respected country and bluegrass players.

Mother Maybelle Carter, Earl Scruggs, Doc Watson and others tied together two generation of musicians on one album. That album and the title song continue to live on.

John McEuen, John Carter Cash & Family Friends will be at the Lobero Theatre Friday night, April 17th. A tribute to "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" and The Carter Family…the show starts at 8:00pm.

John also hosts "Acoustic Traveler with John McEuen" - Tuesdays on Sirius Radio's"The Village."
