Police Arrest Suspected Driver in Fatal Orange County Crash

IRVINE, Calif. (AP) - Authorities have arrested a suspected hit-and-run driver for a crash that killed a woman and injured four others, including two children, in Orange County.

Irvine police say 20-year-old Alec Abraham was arrested Thursday in a Costa Mesa park and hospitalized for minor injuries allegedly received in the crash. It's unclear if the Costa Mesa man has a lawyer.

He's suspected of running away from the scene of a three-car crash Wednesday night in Irvine, leaving behind a badly damaged Mustang. Helicopters and bloodhounds took part in the search.

Police say another driver, 54-year-old Katherine Hampton of Lake Forest, died at the scene. Her adult daughter and her grandchildren, ages 3 and 6, are hospitalized in serious condition.

A woman driving another car was treated and released.

This story has been corrected after new information from police, who say the suspect's name is Alec Abraham, not Alec Scott.
