John McEuen: Still Strumming Along With The 'Nitty Gritty Dirt Band'

(FOX 11) When the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band hit the scene in the late 60's, they had a sound all their own...and are credited with creating an entire movement in country rock and American roots music...

In 1977, John McEwen and the rest of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band made history...doing something no other act had done: They were the first American music group ever allowed by the Soviet Union to tour Russia.

They played 28 sold-out shows in five cities...despite the fact that there was a fear that rock and roll was a capitalistic plot to overthrow communism.

John is also one of the founding members of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band will be playing Thursday night, June 4th at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills.

Doors open at 6:00pm, show starts at 9:00pm.
