Mindy Kaling is an actor, writer, producer, and director. She currently stars in the FOX comedy series "The Mindy Project," which she also writes and executive produces. The show centers on Dr. Mindy Lahiri, a successful OB/GYN whose love of romantic comedies is wreaking havoc on her personal life. In 2013, "The Mindy Project" was nominated for a Writers Guild Award for New Series. In 2014, Mindy and the show earned nominations from the Television Critics Association for Individual Achievement in Comedy and Outstanding Achievement in Comedy respectively. Mindy also earned an NAACP Image Award nomination for her performance on the show in 2014.
Before "The Mindy Project," Mindy was best known for her work on the critically acclaimed, Emmy Award-winning NBC show "The Office." In addition to directing, producing, and portraying celebrity-obsessed Kelly Kapoor, Mindy wrote 18 episodes of the series, including the Emmy nominated episode "Niagra."
Mindy made her film debut as the object of Paul Rudd's unwanted affections in Judd Apatow's The 40 Year Old Virgin. She was last seen on the big screen alongside Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher in No Strings Attached and Jason Segel and Emily Blunt in The Five Year Engagement. She also lent her voice to the blockbuster animated comedy Despicable Me and Wreck-It Ralph. Mindy was most recently seen in This Is The End alongside James Franco and Seth Rogen. Next, Mindy will lend her voice to the character of Disgust in the new Pixar animated film Inside Out along with Amy Poehler and Bill Hader; the film is due in theaters June 19, 2015.
Aside from her work in film and television, Mindy is the author of the comedic memoir "Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me (And Other Concerns)," which continues to be featured on New York Time's and USA Today's best-seller lists. Mindy is currently working on her second memoir "Why Not Me?" which is scheduled to be released in the fall of 2015.
A designer outfit from each of the current season's remaining episodes of ‘The Mindy Project' will be auctioned off on eBay, leading up to the Season Finale airing Tuesday, March 24 (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
In memory of ‘The Mindy Project' creator and star Mindy Kaling's mother, all proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, the national organization working to advance research, support patients and create hope for those affected by pancreatic cancer.
Now live on fox.com/mindyauction, the auction currently features one outfit from last week's episode of ‘The Mindy Project', and one from the episode that aired Tuesday, March 17th. Both outfits will be available on eBay until Thursday, March 19. An outfit from the Season Finale airing Tuesday, March 24 (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) will be available for auction March 24 through Thursday, March 26.
