LAKEWOOD, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say seven people were hurt including a public bus driver who had to be pulled free when his bus collided with a pickup truck in a Los Angeles suburb.
It happened around 6:10 p.m. Wednesday at an intersection in Lakewood.
County fire officials say four people were hospitalized but their exact condition is unclear. Three more were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Kevin Lee of Long Beach Transit says the bus and pickup truck collided and the bus then hit a light pole.
The driver was trapped inside the bus for at least an hour before firefighters could push the bus off the pole and free him. He was conscious and taking when he was taken to the hospital.
Lee says only four passengers were on the bus and all were among the injured.
