Wildfire prompts evacuation of camp area in Riverside County

MORENO VALLEY, Calif. (AP) - A wildfire burning in Riverside County has prompted the evacuation of a campground but no homes are threatened.

The blaze erupted around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday near Merwin Street and Campbell Avenue in Moreno Valley, about 70 miles east of Los Angeles.

The fire has blackened about 175 acres of brush. Authorities say it's heading toward Lake Perris State Park, where a group camp area has been evacuated.

About 125 state and county firefighters are attacking the blaze.

There's no word on what sparked the fire.
