Bill Melugin is a Murrow award winning reporter/investigative reporter for FOX 11 Los Angeles. He grew up in Aliso Viejo in Orange County, CA and attended the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University where he received a BA in broadcast journalism and a minor in Spanish Linguistics. Go Sun Devils!
Prior to joining FOX 11, Bill previously worked as an anchor/investigative reporter at WJZY-TV in Charlotte, North Carolina for two and a half years, and began his career reporter/fill in anchor at KFOX-TV in El Paso Texas for two years.
Bill has traveled to cover some of the biggest stories of the past several years, including the Charleston church shooting, the Orlando club massacre, the Charlotte riots, hurricane Matthew, and hurricane Harvey.
His live coverage of the Charlotte riots earned him an Edward R. Murrow award, as well as the Society of Professional Journalists' national Sigma Delta Chi award, both for the categories of large market breaking news.
He also received the SPJ's 1st place national Mark of Excellence award for investigative reporting, and has won a Texas State Teacher's Association School Bell award for his coverage of corruption in El Paso School districts, as well as an EMMA award for specialty reporting.
In his spare time, Bill enjoys going to the gym, playing basketball, and boxing, and he is thrilled to be back home doing what he loves in the market he grew up in.
